The TAG Heuer 41mm Aquaracer Calibre 5 is an Automatic men’s timepiece that is not only an active-ready sports watch but one of the most attractive designs we have ever reviewed. Starting off with a 41mm fine-brushed and polished steel case, the eye is immediately drawn to the high quality blue ceramic unidirectional bezel.
What makes this design so attractive are the perfectly designed bezel etchings, polished stainless steel/luminous hour indexes and dial hands, and the stainless steel polished case matching in a wonderful silver-toned look. The blue of the ceramic bezel, the blue polished seconds hand with a luminous tip, and the black nylon with blue stitching is an outstanding second accent tone to the stainless steel.

This TAG Heuer features an in-house manufactured Calibre 5 Automatic movement. Made in Switzerland, arguable the best place in the world for quality movements, this automatic calibre features rapid date correction and a power reserve of 38 hours.
The balance frequency is set at 28,800 v.p.h. (vibrations per hour) / 4 Hz. The diameter of the Calibre 5 is: 26mm with anywhere between 25 to 26 rubies depending on the execution of the movement.
This watch is largely two-toned as we discussed in the introduction. With brushed and polished stainless steel casing and components with blue accents on the bezel, dial, and strap, this Aquaracer is a true specimen for any man who loves the water and a world class design.
Even the luminescence is a blue and green color when underwater and in the dark. This is a very high quality and well-thought out design that we are incredibly impressed with.
The hour indexes are very unique compared to the ones you typically see on luxury timepieces. The indexes are polished stainless steel with luminous white fill that creates a wonderful, elegant look that perfectly matches the complex hour and minute hands of the same material and design.
The bold blue seconds hand matches the blue of the ceramic unidirectional bezel as well as the gorgeous blue stitching on the nylon strap. No shade of silver or blue is off in this Aquaracer — with perfect color and accent matching, TAG Heuer really smashed the design in this model.
This timepiece is stunning with excellent functionality and the highest quality materials and designs. There are no major issues reported with this Aquaracer.
In addition to the design features, the functionality is great as well. Not only is this watch built using stainless steel and ceramic, which will hold up great against wear and tear, but with the inclusion of a tough, high quality nylon strap, you know right off the bat that this Aquaracer means business.
It features a fantastic 300 meter (1,000 feet) water resistance, which is perfect for swimming, diving, boating, and more. The back of the casing is solid and has a screw-in stainless steel back, which protects this piece against water. In addition, the crown is also screw-in and the dial crystal is genuine Sapphire crystal. This is the perfect combination for an outstanding water resistance.
The Automatic movement is especially impressive. With between 25 to 26 jewels/rubies, this movement is Swiss made and the Calibre 5 features rapid date correction. With a 38 hour power reserve and a balance frequency of 28,800 (4 Hz), the sheer quality of this movement is surprising to find in a timepiece of this price. While it is not a Calibre 6 such as in the Tag Heuer Carrera series, it does not need to be. This calibre functions to keep the hour, minute, second, and the date of the month located at the 3 o’clock position.
It’s not difficult to find functions and features of this timepiece that deserve spotlight. From its Calibre 5 Automatic movement, the 300 meter water resistance, the stunning blue ceramic bezel, nylon strap, and beautiful design with an attention to detail, this Aquaracer has plenty of amazing features.
Since the black dial, stainless steel hands and hour indexes with luminous fill, blue ceramic bezel, black nylon strap with blue stitching, and the fine-brushed 41mm case already showcase an incredible design that is world-class, the presentation of this design is equally as important.
For example, the crystal protecting the dial is not only genuine Sapphire crystal, which is to be expected of any luxury watch — but it is anti-reflective and scratch-resistant as well. This creates a look through at the dial that one typically does not get, especially in a sports watch meant for the water. This was an excellent addition to this Aquaracer, however, because it is assumed that this watch will see a lot of water and sunlight, which means glare and wear are to be expected. The Sapphire will protect the front from damage while the ceramic bezel is more scratch resistant than what would typically used. The stainless steel case will also withstand scratches and dings quite well, and the nylon strap of course, will be impervious to damage in a way that a metal bracelet would not.
You can purchase the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 Automatic for $2,400. This is a very decent price, especially for such a wonderfully designed and quality luxury timepiece. This is one of the most gorgeous watches we have ever reviewed and it goes to show that functionality and a stunning design do not have to cost five or six figures.
