This Professional Dance Proposal Is the Cutest Thing You’ll See All Day

If you thought flash mob proposals were “awwww”-inducing, prepare to get out the tissues for this dance-centric proposal: Dancer Phil Wright proposed to Ashley Liai, his dance partner and girlfriend of eight years, during a performance at L.A.’s Millennium Dance Complex, Cosmopolitan reports, and the videos are pretty much guaranteed to mess up your mascara.

A series of clips posted to Wright’s Instagram shows the couple grooving in tandem to John Legend’s “You & I (Nobody in the World)” (told you it was a tearjerker) for an audience of kids and teenagers. Halfway through the song, while Liai is turned around, Wright starts fishing in his back pocket. Then, he gets down on one knee with an engagement ring and a pretty life-changing proposition.

“Ashley, will you marry me?” Wright asks, as the kids from the audience gather around, looking equal parts nervous and excited — which is how you can imagine Wright was probably feeling, too. Liai says yes almost immediately, and the crowd goes wild as the couple kisses, hugs, and cries.

The three videos of the dance proposal and aftermath have been watched a combined 750,000 times in the last 18 hours, and the comments on the posts are just about as sweet as you’d imagine. “This is like out of a movie, only better! SO incredible!!!!!” writes one user. “Tears flowing for two complete strangers. Love is so so powerful!” shares another.

The dancing duo has been together since 2009, and the proposal took place on their eighth anniversary — a moment that Ashley says was #worththewait. Right it was.

And in case you thought the dance proposal couldn’t get any more adorable, John Legend himself shared the video on Twitter, calling it “beautiful.”

Talk about an epic, totally swoon-worthy proposal. Now, where’s the best place to meet a single dancer? We need details!
