Limited edition Apple Watch NikeLab goes live with fresh white band

Apple and Nike are back at it again to bring you a new smartwatch model, this time operating under the banner of NikeLab and releasing a fresh design of the Apple Watch Series 2.

The Apple Watch NikeLab is essentially a white dip-dye of the current Apple Watch Nike+ models, while still giving you deeper access to the Nike+ Run Club app, exclusive Siri commands and watch faces and also packing in the standard features of the device, such as GPS and water resistance.

Interestingly, the limited edition, which features a coloured strap described by Apple as ‘bone and black’, will only be available in eight NikeLab stores around the world, although will also be ready to pick up online from 27 April.

Now, of course, adding a new strap colour isn’t the most innovative or exciting creation spawned from this collaborative duo, but it does show that they’re looking to mix things up, at the very least. This also comes after Apple began selling the existing perforated Nike Sport Bands, which come in black, grey/white and black/yellow, independent of the actual devices.

This allowed those with regular Apple Watches to pretend, if you like, that they were on board with the special edition. And if that wasn’t enough, Apple itself also recently released a colourful batch of its woven nylon bands — just in time for spring.

It’s unclear whether Nike and Apple will now head back underground to work on releasing further colour variations of the device, or whether attention will now turn to a potential collaboration for the Apple Watch Series 3, expected later this year.
