Deeply committed to the “seventh art”, Jaeger-LeCoultre plays an active role in supporting the Venice Film Festival as well as the cultural heritage of the historical city.
Beyond appearances of celebrities wearing Jaeger-LeCoultre watches on the red carpet and out and about in Venice, such as Al Pacino, Milla Jovovich, Clive Owen, Carmen Chaplin, Sarah Gadon and Zhao Wei, the Swiss watch manufacture embarked on an ambitious and far-reaching series of collaborations for this year’s festival.
Directly benefitting the city of Venice, Jaeger-LeCoultre has committed to a three-year restoration programme of the 1478 Scuola Grade di San Rocco, whose walls and ceilings are decorated with paintings by Tintoretto. Furthermore, each year the brand presents the Glory to the Filmmaker Award, which is given to a person who has made a notable contribution to contemporary cinema.
On the closing night, the winners of the Golden Lion for the Best Film as well as this year’s Best Actor and Best Actress awards were presented with a Reverso watch, decorated on the back with an engraving of the lion, the symbol of Venice.
On the humanitarian side, Jaeger-LeCoultre organised a special event to raise awareness for the NGO Emergency, which provides emergency medical treatment to civilian victims of war.
