New NAJ initiatives target British manufacturing and CSR

Jewellery trade association NAJ has laid out plans for a series of new initiatives which will debut at IJL 2017.

The new initiatives look to target key industry issues, such as corporate responsibility and environmental practises, as well as training and staff management.

NAJ chairman, Simon Johnson, said: “IJL is fast approaching and this year we have lots of new, relevant and exciting benefits, services and initiatives to share with the industry. The team are looking forward to welcoming members and non-members to the NAJ stand, where guests can enjoy some refreshments over a worthwhile conversation about how we can make you money and save you money.”

In response to the current environment, the NAJ will launch its new Made in Britain Mark. The new voluntary Mark will give manufactures a point of differentiation and will help consumers to identify which products have been manufactured in Britain. With the support of UK Assay offices and a licensing body, the NAJ will be able to offer members the opportunity to use the mark in the coming months. A presentation of the concept will take place at 12.00pm on September 4.

In light of the JET certificate re-launch, the education team will be on hand to talk to all visitors and exhibitors about the new manufacturing and design modules which ensure that the qualification is relevant to all industry sectors. The Academy will also host a JET Taster session, which will take place at 4pm on September 3 in the Olympia room.

Meanwhile, the NAJ plans to address corporate social responsibility and sustainability with its ‘The Better Business’ initiative. The initiative will tackle some of these topics as well as enabling small and medium-scale enterprises to undertake more responsible business practices, both in the workplace and across the supply chain.

As well as the initiatives the organisation is offering six months free membership for those who sign up at the show.
