The Raven Defender Turns 2

Well, not really, but we are getting word of a new generation, aka the Raven Defender II.  This time around, along with the three-hander plus date style we’ve seen, we’ve got a GMT complication in the mix.

Obviously, looking at the two watches up there in the header image, they are very much the same watch.  Same 42mm case (steel, of course), same double-domed sapphire crystal covering up the wide, clean dial and internal bezel, and the same two-crown layout.  One to control the internal bezel, and one for winding the movement and setting the date and time.

Unsurprisingly, I find myself drawn more to the ETA 2893 powered variant, which of course puts the GMT hand into the mix.  Should you not care for GMT, and want the simplicity of a three-hander, the other version is powered by the well-known ETA 2824.  Depending on the movement chosen, that of course impacts the internal bezel (24 hour or 12 hour).

It also has an impact on the price.  The Raven Defender II will run $790, while the Raven Defender II GMT will go for $890.  Of course, if you pre-order (which you can do here) you’ll save yourself $100 off of those prices.  At those prices, you’ll get your choice of leather strap (brown or black) as well as a second rubber strap and a leather case for the watch.  We’re big fans of what they’re doing over at Raven, and this looks to be another great addition to the catalog.  ravenwatches.com
