Hands on with the Aragon Divemaster EVO

Aragon Watch Company has many watch models in their line of watches. They cover all styles, but their focus seems to be divers. Aragon has just release their latest model, the Aragon Divemaster EVO, which is available for pre-order right now. Aragon was kind enough to send me one to review so lets check it out.

The Dial

The model I received has the mother of pearl dial. Should that not be your thing, there are 11 options to choose from. The Aragon Divemaster EVO is a simple 3 hander with a date window at 4 o’clock position. The hour and minute hands are sharp looking blades with plenty of lume painted on. The seconds hand is red (which adds a little contrast to the dial) and pairs well with the red on the crown.

These hands are mounted to a reliable Seiko SII NH35 automatic movement. Hour markers are a combination of rectangular and circular markers in stainless steel, filled with lume. The mother of pearl looks nice (and Patrick is a big fan of the material) but paired with the stainless steel polished markers and polished hands?  In my opinion, everything tends to blend together.

The Case

Aragon watches are for sure not subtle watches. They are large and bold and desisgned to be that way. This Aragon Divemaster EVO is no exception. The case is 45mm wide and 17mm thick and weighs in at 11.3 ounces (320g). If this is not big enough for you there is also a 50mm model (and if it’s not big enough, glad to have you as a reader, Arnold!)  There is nothing subtle about this watch. The stainless steel case and stainless steel bracelet are highly polished shine like crazy on the sun.

The Aragon Divemaster EVO has a screw down crown which is positioned at the 4 o’clock position which is great on a large watch like this. I normally have issues with large watches because the crown eats into my wrist, but not here.  With the location of the crown being the saving grace, of course.

The bezel is large and rises above the crystal at its outer diameter then tapers down to the crystal. this adds a pretty cool concave dimension. Since it is a “dive watch” it does have a respectable water resistance of 660ft which is fine for diving although I don’t think I would use this as a diver. This is much too polished to go getting beat up on a dive or getting the attention of some large fish with sharp teeth..

The Bracelet

There is nothing lightweight used on this watch. The bracelet on the Aragon Divemaster EVO is solid stainless steel and has a very heavy duty feel. One thing I really like about their bracelet is the fact that you can adjust it down to a very small size – even though the watch itself is rather large. The bracelet it very highly polished and does not pinch or pull hair at all which is nice for those with a lot of hair, like me. This has a signed push button fold over clasp with safety, but does not have a divers extension. This is not really an issue since this is more of a office diver.

The Movement

Shown through the exhibition case back is the Seiko SII NH35 24 jewel movement with date. There are no decoration at all on the movement but still nice to see through that case back.

Overall Impression

Aragon offers a watch for just about all tastes and it you like large divers you will really like this one. This Aragon Divemaster EVO is bold, tough, and flashy. People will notice this monster on your wrist for sure. Now if you do take this diving, keep in mind that the barracuda following you will also notice this watch and might want to eat it. The Aragon Divemaster EVO is on pre-order right not for only $130.00 USD which is $220.00 less than retail. You can check them out at aragonwatch.com.
