Tuesday Ten: The Best Non-Maternity Clothes to Dress Your Bump In

I’m sure that toward the end of my pregnancy, purchasing at least a few maternity pieces will be unavoidable. But so far, I’m trying to make do without buying tons of expensive maternity clothes that I’ll only wear for a few short months. Instead, I’ve been donning flowy silhouettes, stretchy fabrics, and other pieces from my everyday wardrobe that can accommodate my baby bump. I already had several pieces that worked well in my closet, and my goal with any new pieces I buy right now is that I will continue to wear them after baby gets here. Whether you are expecting too or just want to see some of my favorite outfits of the moment, here are a few pieces I’ve had on constant rotation lately…

Forever21 Bodycon Midi Dress

1. Forever 21 Bodycon Midi Dress, $9.90
I’ve been living in these simple tank dresses from Forever 21 since they are made from a super stretchy fabric that can accommodate my growing baby bump. They come in 12 different colors, and are great for layering under cozy cardigans and jackets. And since they are under $10 a piece, it won’t be the end of the world if I end up stretching these dresses out too much to wear post-pregnancy.

Madewell whisper cotton crewneck tee

2. Madewell Whisper Cotton Crewneck Tee, $29.50
So many of the cropped T-shirt styles that are in style right now aren’t exactly made for a baby bump. Madewell’s Whisper Cotton Crewneck Tees are some of the only tees I’ve found that are long enough for me to wear comfortably right now. They come in several solid colors in addition to cute striped styles.

Zara Ribbed Dress with flared cuffs

3. Zara Ribbed Dress With Flared Cuffs, $39.90
This is another piece with enough stretch in the fabric to fit over my bump. I love this dress for a nice dinner out. The sleeves add interest and the midi length is perfectly on trend.

LC Lauren Conrad Runway tunic sweater

4. LC Lauren Conrad Runway Collection V-Neck Tunic Sweater, $16.20
For more casual days a long sweater layered over leggings is a go to look for me. This cozy, extra long sweater from my Kohl’s collection won’t ride up in the front, and has ample room for your bump.

Madewell Central Shirt in white

5. Madewell Central Shirt, from $65
Madewell’s ‘Central’ style of shirt has an oversized fit for an effortlessly cool look, which also means it can be worn while pregnant. Whether you are looking for the perfect white button-down or a striped or chambray version, you will want to add at least one of these to your maternity wardrobe—and will continue to wear it long afterward.

BDG pink t-shirt dress

6. BDG Morisette T-Shirt Dress, $49
I love wearing these Urban Outfitters T-shirt dresses with a leather jacket and flats. I have it in several colors. It’s a really easy basic to throw on and accessorize depending on the occasion.

Free People Low Tide Cardigan

7. Free People Low Tide Cardigan, $128
Long, slouchy cardigans like this one are a serious style staple when you’re expecting. I wear them all the time over body-con dresses like the Forever 21 style above, or over leggings and tees when I’m running errands.

Rebecca Minkoff Dev Dress

8. Rebecca Minkoff Dev Dress, $198
When I went to choose a dress to wear to the Rebecca Minkoff runway show in L.A. last month, I was pleased to find that there were several pieces in the designer’s Spring 2017 collection that I could wear while pregnant. The white lace ‘Morongo’ dress I wore to the event isn’t available to shop yet, but I love this similar denim style as well.

Paper Crown Natalie Dress

9. Paper Crown Natalie Dress, $260
Finding formalwear while pregnant can be the biggest style challenge of all. Luckily, we have a stunning dress in my Paper Crown Bridesmaids collection that I recommend to all my expecting mamas out there with a formal event on your calendar. Whether you are a wedding guest or a bridesmaid, the Natalie dress is a winner (seen here on Maria of The Classified Chic). It comes in 10 colors and can be worn with or without the removable sash.

LC Lauren Conrad Crochet Trim Top

10. LC Lauren Conrad Crochet Trim Top, $27
This top from my Kohl’s collection (which comes in ash rose and black) has plenty of room for a baby bump. I live in basic tees and tanks most days, but it’s nice to have something a bit chicer in my maternity wardrobe too!
