Sneakers have never been more chic. At the couture shows in Paris last month, first Dior and then Chanel showed spring confections with sneakers, albeit bedazzled ones. At Chanel, every model strode the runway in sneakers embellished with lace, tweed, python and pearls. It may be a stretch to think that Jennifer Lawrence will wear haute couture trainers with her Dior on the red carpet, but they seem totally reasonable with everything else. The ones here, which include Rick Owens’s architectural wonders designed in collaboration with Adidas, are surely as statement-making as any pair of heels. Expect to see some of them in the front row this week.

Pinrose, a try-at-home fragrance company introduced online this week, aims to personalize the experience of finding the right scent. The founders, Erika Shumate and Christine Luby, friends who met at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, have devised a clever scent-profiling quiz using behavioral and olfactory research to match your preferences for colors, sounds and textures with your olfactory likes and dislikes. Once your scent matches are determined, Pinrose will suggest three of its fragrances — there are 10 in the introductory collection — and send samples for you to try, with accompanying explanations. Wouldn’t you like to learn, for instance, that Surf Siren, which, in the vocabulary of perfume, has lavender and orange oil top notes, a basil middle and a neroli base, sips like a French 75 cocktail and sounds like “This Must Be the Place” by the Talking Heads?

New York Shopping That’s Done on Tokyo Time

Nipponista curates items by Japanese designers and hard-to-find labels

When it’s not at Dover Street Market between the shows this week, the fashion crowd is likely to be found at Nipponista, a pop-up shop in SoHo that is showcasing Japanese design for the duration of New York Fashion Week. Organized by the Japanese department store Isetan, the shop will have garments from designers who once unhinged the fashion world, like Yohji Yamamoto and Kansai Yamamoto (who may be best known for the androgynous and futuristic costumes he created for David Bowie, including the “Ziggy Stardust” tour), as well as hard-to-find labels like White Mountaineering, N. Hoolywood and Anrealage. And look for art by Izumi Akiyama, pendant lighting by Sachie Muramatsu, bicycles from Tokyobike and fantastical furniture by Kin-ichi Ogata.

Isabel Marant and Oliver Peoples collaborate on 1970’s-inspired sunglasses

Combine the bohemian chic of Isabel Marant with the vintage-look California cool of Oliver Peoples and you get these covetable new sunglasses. The Matt, the aviator shape shown here, and the Daria, a more rounded, slightly oversize frame, are nods to the 1970s, which is often an inspiration for Ms. Marant — not to mention a popular reference point of the moment. (Think Amy Adams in “American Hustle.”) Each style comes in five colors, including rose gold with pink lenses and gold with peach mirror lenses.
