A Tree-Scented Trio of Fragrances

“The tree is the origin of the most beautiful tales and legends, which lends itself perfectly to the values of Liquides Imaginaires,” says Philippe di Méo, the creative director and co-founder of the French perfumery whose ethos is to transport an individual through sensory experience. And with his company’s newest fragrance trilogy, Les Eaux Arborantes, available stateside for the first time today and designed to represent three elements of the tree, he hopes to propel the wearer into spring: “The tree symbolizes the rebirth of nature,” he says.

Tellus, the most masculine of the scents, represents deep, earthy roots. Saltus, infused with notes of cedar, eucalyptus and tonka bean, embodies the sultry, sundown spirit of sap. And Succus, with notes of grapefruit and rosemary, Indonesian purple ginger and orchid accord, invokes the smell of treetops rustling in warm winds. It is by far the lightest of the three, and as Di Méo suggests, is a perfume in flight.
