Calling all brides-to-be! Now that we’re officially in wedding season, we know that a lot of you are planning for your own upcoming nuptials. Even if you have help during the planning process, it can be overwhelming to sift through the thousands of wedding ideas floating around Pinterest. That being said, we’ve called on our wedding expert friends at Style Me Pretty to share a list of bridal trends that they know are going to be huge in 2016. Because they are so well-versed in weddings, we’re beyond excited to have them share the biggest bridal trends of 2016 with our LaurenConrad.com readers. Keep scrolling to see what they came up with…
1. Don’t be afraid to take a fashion risk.
When planning your big day, your wedding dress is one of the biggest and most exciting decisions you get to make! While you want to pick a dress you’ll be able to look back at and be proud of, it doesn’t mean you can’t be bold with your dress choice. Personality is everything, so let yours shine through! Flower embellishments, lace, or long sleeves… as long as you feel like yourself, you will be the most beautiful bride.
2. Grooms looking dapper in navy.
Let’s not forget about our leading men! Navy is the new black… at least for the groom. As weddings are getting less traditional, and so are men’s suits. Navy is a great alternative to black because it’s still a perfect contrast to the white wedding dress—and looks dapper on most everyone!
3. Rose gold and copper are giving gold the boot.
We’ve been swooning over all things rose gold for quite some time, so naturally we’re excited that this trend is big in wedding décor. These colors can be integrated in most wedding themes—whether it’s a rustic or glamorous wedding. These accent colors will brighten any room and pair nicely with flowers and greenery.
4. Floral print bridesmaids’ dresses are in.
Floral prints have evolved over the years, but we’re seeing the feminine pattern more then ever in bridesmaid’s dresses. As summer approaches, we couldn’t think of a better print for the ladies in your bridal party. If you are like Team LC, you’re always surrounding yourself with flowers. So, why not share the love in your bridesmaids’ dresses as well?
5. Smaller, more intimate weddings.
Don’t think of your wedding as a popularity contest. Now, we know it’s hard to cut down the number of guests, but an intimate wedding is something extremely special. Being surrounded by only your closest friends and family on your wedding day will allow you more time to be present and enjoy the day!
6. Go green.
Eucalyptus, cocculus and ferns… oh my! Greenery is all the rage this year—from bouquets to décor, the wedding world just can’t get enough! While flowers are still integrated into bouquets, the main focus has shifted to greenery. Not only are the bouquets beautiful, they are less fragile, generally less expensive, and complement just about every wedding detail.
7. Undone and natural-looking hair and makeup.
Just like Lauren explained in this post, it’s important to look and feel like yourself on your wedding day. While it’s fun to get your hair and makeup done, be sure to choose a look that’s true to you. Essentially, you want to look like a more elevated version of yourself. Light curls, natural eye shadow and a blush pink lip have never looked so good!
8. Have a bold accent color.
Brighten up your special day with a bold pop of color. While pink is always a good idea like the image above, feel free to choose your favorite color and run with it. Use your accent color of choice throughout your decorations including your table decorations, bouquets, and invitations.
9. Bring a black-tie dress code to a laid-back environment.
Dressing to the nines isn’t reserved strictly for black-tie affairs anymore. Even if you’re planning on DIYing your decorations or have a casual venue booked, having your guests in gowns and tuxedos is the way to go. We can’t think of a better occasion to dress in your absolute best than a wedding!
10. Whimsical bouquets.
Gone are the days of tightly bound flowers. Just like the undone and natural hairstyle trend, bridal bouquets are following suit. Consider embracing a more whimsical bunch when you’re planning out your flowers, like the image shown above.
