2. Save on calligraphy.
Love the calligraphy look but not the price tag? Sites like Etsy offer a wide variety of downloadable wedding invitation templates, like this one here, that will allow you to print invitations at home for the fraction of the cost. Make the process of putting together your invitations an event and invite over your bridesmaids for a wine night!

3. Make your own desserts!
Who says your wedding needs to have a traditional cake? If you’re looking to make some room in your budget, consider making the desserts for the wedding yourself. It is a great way to add a personal touch and save hundreds of dollars. Even Lauren did it herself and made over 50 apple pies before her wedding and froze them until the big day (recipe here).

4. Combine your bachelor and bachelorette parties.
What might seem like an untraditional move to some might be just what your wedding party needs! If the bridesmaids and groomsmen do not know each other well, combining the bachelor and bachelorette parties is a great way for everyone to meet each other before the wedding while saving money at the same time! Renting out a house for a weekend can cut costs almost in half, and you can still go your separate ways at night to celebrate with your girls.

5. Don’t wait until the last minute to plan personal touches!
In the midst of planning all of the big details such as venue, photography, menu, etc. you don’t want to forget about all of the little touches that will make your wedding so special! Having to pay for rush fees right before the wedding, like for personalized cocktail napkins, can add up. Take time in advance to walk through your wedding day and think about all of the small details to avoid these pesky fees.
