Geometric Jewellery

Geometry has proved itself to be a striking trend in fashion and all things design in recent months. With the inevitable spin off on fine jewellery we take a look at four jewellers whose approach to geo styling is delicate and fine rather than bold and bulky.

We love Lito Jewelry’s approach. Grid-like formations play host to strips of diamonds and vibrant stones which add a touch of glamour and sparkle to an edgy collection.

Despite exuding an air of delicacy through the fan-like frills of multi-faceted gemstones, Nak Armstrong’s designs are powerfully impressive and almost always have an architectural spin. Nicholas LiuNicholas Liu

NY-based designer, Nicholas Liu‘s diffusion collection also supports this idea of delicate but strong. Liu’s industrial frames set with or without diamonds are both provocative and fantastical and are a direct spin off of his obsession with linear symmetry.

In contrast, Mallary Marks’ vibrant work moves away from grids and frameworks and focuses on the circle, where she combines precious metals and semi-precious gemstones in a chainmail-like formation.  The tessellated wire-work adds a sense of movement and impacts the overall look of the jewellery.

Geometry is ‘the branch of mathematics concerned with the properties and relations of points, lines, surfaces, solids and higher dimensional analogues.’ I feel that these pieces are a mix of delicate and defined configurations of lines and angles that reflect a desire for barely-there jewels, whilst supporting a geometric trend that is bound to turn heads!
