Tanishq the Indian wedding jeweller unveils the new Wedding Collection 2013

By Preeta Agarwal in New Delhi

Following the unprecedented success of its previous wedding collection, Tanishq, the Indian Wedding Jeweller, has launched a new collection of Indian bridal jewels.

The launch of the Wedding Collection 2013 was held at a five-star hotel in New Delhi. It was followed by a magnificent runway show starring Miss India World 2013, Navneet Kaur Dhillon, and Miss United Continent, Vice Queen 2013, Purva Rana, who sashayed down the ramp wearing jewels from the new collection.

Sparkling with diamonds and crafted in 22ct gold, the collection was inspired by the geometric and figural motifs of henna or mehandi – the art of decorating hands with henna – an auspicious element of an Indian wedding.

Available at Tanishq boutiques across India, the new collection has been handcrafted with the modern Indian bride in mind. From elaborate kundan polki studded necklaces and earrings to ornamental maang tika (hair ornament), rings and wrist wear, craftsmanship is key, displaying a wide range of techniques and featuring intricate details such as meenakari (enamelling), filigree, engraving and etching.

Alongside the new Wedding Collection, Tanishq unveiled its latest taboo-breaking TV advertisement, which focusses on second marriage and has been a big hit on social media.

Speaking about the new wedding collection, Revathi Kant, General Manager of Design Innovation and New Product Introduction at Tanishq, says: “At Tanishq our aim is to design new age wedding jewellery that also tells a story of India’s traditions. Inspired by elaborate heena designs and the festoon decorations of Indian weddings, this collection is gorgeous, vibrant and timeless, personifying the grace and elegance of a bride.”
