Brand-new rings in David Yurman’s bridal range

David Yurman made his first foray into bridal jewellery in 2010 and, true to form, he didn’t disappoint. On first inspection, the classic solitaire ring looks traditional enough, but tucked inside the band, so that no one but the wearer knows it’s there, is the distinctive cable design for which the brand is most famous. Wedding bands hold similar surprises, with an edgy pave diamond crossover ring offset by a simple – and sublimely wearable – cable band in yellow gold or platinum.

Building on its success, David Yurman recently added brand-new rings to his bridal collection, which remain true to the classic notion of romanticism and, of course, feature the brand’s iconic cable motif, but are more fashion-forward. Playing with Yurman’s passion for brightly hued gems, a trio of three-stone rings is set with a ruby, an emerald and a pair of sapphires, flanked by brilliant diamonds. Paired with the cable band, the look is daring and fun. Set this style with three diamonds, as Yurman did for the launch of his bridal range, and you’ve got another look entirely, one that is perfect for brides-to-be with more classic ideals.

The standout piece is the crossover engagement ring, with a beautiful solitaire diamond (the size of which is up to you and your budget), its sparkle unhindered by the minimal four-prong setting. Behind it, two pave-diamond studded bands weave elegantly around the finger, both of which feature, on the inside, the iconic cable design that unites the entire bridal collection. It’s a stunner.

I have always loved David Yurman. One of America’s best-known jewellery brands, they – I say they because David Yurman is still resolutely a family-run business – have always been one step ahead of the game, kick-starting trends and constantly innovating. In an ideal world I’d have an entire jewellery box filled with their trademark chunky necklaces and cocktail rings, and I’d make sure there was plenty of room left over for that wonderful crossover solitaire.
