It’s happened. The clocks have gone back, the evenings are a little darker… And so we find ourselves face-to-face once more with the winter wardrobe. But all is not lost in chunky knits – ’tis also the season for festive frolics (and jewels to match, of course).
Your invite might hint at an intimate cocktail soiree that calls for feathers and subtle sparkle, or it could be a chance to throw on your Saint Laurent with a biker jacket and jewels with serious cool. Whatever the occasion, we’ve chosen a fistful of accoutrements perfect for winter, as jewels go back to black.
First up, Italian brand Rebecca is bringing statement jewels to the fore this winter, with a black finish to its jewels that mimics the sheen of an oil slick. Encrusted with stone details, Lanvin’s tassel earrings clash materials, below, working seamlessly with Stephen Webster’s reversible Haze ring. A closer look at the ring reveals a little mechanism to flip over the central stone, revealing the cool shimmer of an opal doublet on its reverse.

For jewels that are easy to dress up, Pomellato’s Capri earrings are a winner, combining faceted jet gemstones with the cool of white gold and white diamonds. To contrast, Fiona Paxton’s Grace collar and Lanvin’s Elsie cuff combine leather, studs, suede and beads to inject a sense of casual in to the season’s black jewels. And at the high-end? White diamonds picked out against polished black metal, looping and swirling with such elegant movement – perfectly captured by de Grisogono’s Catene ring and Repossi‘s White Noise ring.
