Frosty pastels were all over the AW15 catwalks, so it is no wonder that the same colour palette looks set to be one of this season’s leading fine jewellery trends.

While fashion designers mixed frosty pastels with neutral shades of grey and camel, fine jewellery houses have created a similar look by pairing coloured gemstones in soft ice-cream shades with yellow or white gold.
Diamonds set in rose gold glisten like freshly fallen snow in the blue chalcedony earrings by New York-based jewellery designer Meira T, while American designer Pamela Huizenga contrasts the warm glow of yellow gold with icy gems in her pastel bracelet. The Robinson Pelham yellow gold cocktail rings achieve the same effect with cool blue chalcedony or minty green prehnite cabochons.
Theresa Harper Bruno, the designer behind Jordan Alexander jewellery, never ceases to amaze with her ethereally beautiful yet edgy pieces, which often blend feminine pearls with raw, sliced gemstones. This one-of a-kind opaque blue aquamarine bracelet is surrounded by a halo of diamonds, while a cultured Tahitian pearl peeks out from the side of the yellow gold band.

Another interpretation of the pastel jewellery trend comes courtesy of Brazilian brand Brumani. Its Baobab collection was inspired by the exotic African “tree of life”, which was famously uprooted and transplanted to Brazil. The pink tourmaline drop earrings feature a branch of diamonds, rose quartz and tourmaline, which sweep upwards like an ear climber.
A chalcedony ring from the Cartier Paris Nouvelle Vague collection places this translucent stone at its centre, with one side of the gem covered in pavé diamonds. The distinctive fluid lines of Fernando Jorge’s Stream collection aim to recreate the pulsing energy of the Grand Carnival in his native Brazil. The pink chalcedony ring in rose gold from the designer’s AW15 collection sits at the more tranquil end of the colour spectrum.
The pinky ring has been a signature design at David Yurman for the past five years. This season, Chief Creative Director Evan Yurman’s favourite nostalgic scents feature in a new collection of candy-coloured rings, which smell as good as they look thanks to an innovative design that infuses the resin with scents of bubblegum, peppermint, cotton candy and grapes.
Whether or not perfumed jewels become one of the hottest new jewellery trends remains to be seen, but they are certainly a fun way to embrace the fashion for frosty pastels.
