A sparkling farewell from Cannes

After two weeks of spectacular red carpet jewellery, the 69th edition of the Cannes Film Festival wrapped up the film premieres and star-studded parties for another year.

Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio summed up this year’s Cannes Film Festival with Bulgari’s Serpenti diamond necklace.

Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio brought the film festival to a fittingly glamorous close on Friday night. She looked amazing in a sparkling strapless dress by Zuhair Murad, accessorised with a Bulgari Serpenti necklace set with almost 80 carats of diamonds. Attending the premiere of Sean Penn’s latest film The Last Face, Alessandra completed her dazzling attire with two matching Serpenti diamond rings.

The serpent has been a permanent fixture in Bulgari’s jewellery collections since the 1940s and it is testament to the design’s longevity that it is as popular today as it was 70 years ago. A favourite of the late screen legend Elizabeth Taylor, the slithering snake still makes regular appearances on the red carpet and, in recent years, has been the Cannes jewellery of choice for Naomi Watts, Jessica Biel, Sienna Miller, and now Alessandra Ambrosio.

Kirsten Dunst’s Chopard high jewellery earrings in pink and white diamonds glimmered at the Cannes closing ceremony.

Kirsten Dunst looked resplendent in pink diamonds at the Closing Ceremony, where British director Ken Loach was awarded the coveted Palme d’Or trophy for his film I, Daniel Blake. The American actress and member of the jury wore a semi-sheer Valentino dress along with a pair of Chopard high jewellery earrings set with pink and white diamonds.

French actress Juliette Binoche also saw out the film festival in style with a pair of white gold and titanium earrings from Chopard’s high jewellery collection, and two diamond rings from the L’Heure du Diamant collection.

Notoriously glitzy, this year’s film festival saw the stars up the ante with more decadent red carpet jewels than ever. We’re already looking forward to seeing what spectacular Cannes Film Festival jewellery next year’s 70th anniversary will bring.
