This Limited Edition Breitling Navitimer utilizes a luxury, Swiss-made Automatic Chronometer movement as its power source. This is a self winding movement that is powered by a torsion spring using the kinetic energy of the wearer. You can view this movement through the transparent caseback.
The Automatic is powered by a Breitling in-house calibre 01 engine which is absolutely reliable for its performance and precision. It features 47 jewels, a minimum power reserve of 70 hours, and beats at 28,000 v.p.h.
The polished steel of the 43mm case is the housing for an incredible Automatic movement made by Breitling in-house, a flat black main dial, three beautiful subdials in blue, a blue steel bi-directional bezel, genuine alligator/crocodile leather in black and stitched with white accent, and polished steel-finished dial hands with luminescent fill.
This is a Chronograph that features two steel push buttons as well as the screw-in crown on the right hand side of the case. The bezel face is blue with a stainless steel colored, notched outer bezel grip. The Chronograph functions include: a 30 minute counter subdial at the 3 o’clock position, a 12 hour counter subdial at 6 o’clock, and a large central red seconds counter that is capable of keeping accurate time up to 1/4th of a second. In addition, a small seconds subdial is found at the 9 o’clock position and the date window is located at an angle between 4 and 5 o’clock.
This watch is a favorite among aviators due to the incredible range of navigational markings on the dial and bezel. Printed are a seconds as well as fractions of seconds track, a large central seconds counter, a Chronograph track on the blue bezel, MPH track, meter track, and more.
You can view the 47 jewel Automatic movement through the transparent backing of the watch case. From the front, you can view the analog dial during the day and night — the polished steel finished dial hands are filled with luminescence as are the stick hour indexes. The red seconds hand is tipped with a red arrow and is easy to see to use as a multi-tool for various functions.
While not necessarily a bad aspect to this timepiece, the case is made from stainless steel as opposed to a higher quality metal. This is offset by the high quality component parts that allow this timepiece to stay under five figures in price. Also, the case is hardly visible with the bezel and transparent back features taking up a lot of real estate on this watch.
The functionality of this Limited Edition piece is among the best in the luxury market.
The luxury brand name is not just the only quality part on this watch. The beautiful Breitling Swiss made calibre 01 in its Automatic movement. This self winding mechanical movement beats at 28,000 v.p.h. (vibrations per hour) and has a power reserve at a minimum of 70 hours. This is an incredible reserve time not often seen outside of Rolex movements.
The bi-directional rotating bezel is outfitted with a “navigational computer” which is a ringed Slide Rule, just below the crystal. This allows the wearer to compute various airborne calculations such as climbing times, fuel consumption, as well as converting miles into nautical distances.
Paired with the range of markings on the black rim, the blue bezel, and within each subdial, this timepiece has an incredible range of information that it keeps track of. There is a reason that this Navitimer is an aviator’s dream.
